PREMIERE: I Love You More by Charles Fox

With the end of 2021 approaching, Charles Fox’s “I Love You More” EP is a validating and relatable piece for anyone reflecting on recent changes in their lives.

Fox does not box himself into a specific, identifiable genre. He describes his genre as “YTM” which stands for “You Tell Me.” Leaving his art up to the listeners’ interpretation is very important to him.

This ambiguous interpretation of genre is further evident in the art direction of the EP. The art direction for this project is inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender, which coincides with Fox’s fondness for utilizing multiple elements in one song or exploring different artistic mediums.

“I Love You More” is a different endeavor for Fox, as each track is produced by a different person. This is a change from his previous solo work and his work with the group he co-founded, New England Poet Society, as he usually produces songs himself along with Cam from NEPS.

“I Love You More” is a personal and meaningful project for Fox, as he reflects on past relationships and friendships that felt one-sided. The struggle and sadness is evident throughout the EP as he sings about the effort he exerts to keep people in his life, willing to sacrifice pieces of himself for the other person.

Another meaning that is felt through this project is Fox’s feelings towards art and creation. When it comes to creating art, there is often a feeling of loving art more than anyone else. This leads to a drive to continue finding yourself through your art.

“I Love You More” is a timely piece of music. Despite the incredibly personal aspects surrounding its story, I believe many people will relate to the feeling of stagnation and yearning to hold on to the people we love, especially within the last few years.

Stream “I Love You More” on all streaming platforms.
